Shared office space flourishes in Miami

Source:  The Real Deal

Any stigma about the use of shared office space in Miami is a thing of the past.

Major shared workspace operators like Quest Workspaces Management and Regus report a sea change in the local office market, which has fully embraced the concept. Quest recently launched a Doral location to go along with six other South Florida sites. Regus has several dozen locations throughout the region.

“Back in, say, the early 90s, people would have been embarrassed to work in a place like this,” Quest CEO Laura Kozelouzek told the Daily Business Review from the company’s location inside Brickell Avenue’s Espirito Santo Plaza. “It was seen as showing that you weren’t really a credible business because you didn’t have your own space. It’s interesting that it’s now sort of become in vogue to work this way.”

The market is rife with independent shared office operators. Buro Miami, MiamiShared and Pipeline Brickell are well established in the financial district, downtown Miami and Midtown. Other ventures like LabMiami in Miami’s Wynwood neighborhood and Venture Hive in Park West are attracting tech firms to areas outside of the city’s major office submarkets.
